Pursuant to a notice posted on May 2, 2025, the House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Leach, at 7:04 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Leach; Johnson; Dyson; Flores; Hayes; LaHood; Landgraf; and Moody.

 

A quorum was present.

The chair directed that the April 24, 2025 minutes for the House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence be corrected. The corrected minutes were authorized without objection.

 

SB 1119

 

The chair laid out SB 1119, the companion to HB 2613.

 

Representative LaHood moved that SB 1119, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Leach; Johnson; Dyson; Flores; González, Jessica; Hayes; LaHood; Landgraf; Moody (9).

 

Nays:                           None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                        Representatives Dutton; Schofield (2).

The chair laid out HB 4806.

 

The chair offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The chair recognized Representative Bonnen to explain HB 4806.
