Pursuant to a notice posted on March 25, 2024, the House Committee on The Panhandle Wildfires, Investigative met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative King, Ken, at 8:10 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives King, Ken; Burrows; Hunter; Public Members Abraham, Jason; and Henderson, James.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

The Chair made opening remarks.

 

The committee met in a public hearing to hear invited and public testimony on the following topics:

(1)  factors contributing to the wildfires;

(2)  allocation of resources to and effectiveness of wildfire disaster preparedness and response; and

(3)  coordination between local, state, and federal governmental entities with regard to wildfire prevention, disaster preparedness, and response.

At 11:43 a.m., the committee stood at ease.

The committee reconvened at 12:35 p.m. and was called to order by the chair, Representative King, Ken.
