AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to requiring certain institutions of higher education to |
|
|
enter into an agreement to offer undergraduate courses in Texas |
|
|
History. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 51.302, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) A college or university receiving state support or state |
|
|
aid from public funds that does not offer at least three semester |
|
|
credit hours or the equivalent in Texas History to undergraduate |
|
|
students shall enter into an agreement with another postsecondary |
|
|
educational institution to offer to the college or university's |
|
|
undergraduate students at least three semester credit hours or the |
|
|
equivalent in Texas History. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024 |
|
|
academic year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
