SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 746
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Ramiro Ramirez Gonzalez for his entrepreneurial
  success and his many contributions to the Rio Grande Valley
  community; and
         WHEREAS, Ramiro "Mr. G" Gonzalez was raised at San Jose
  Ranch just outside of San Benito, Texas, and he graduated from
  Los Fresnos High School in 1962; his parents instilled in him the
  value of honesty and a strong work ethic, and he used these traits
  to shape a rewarding business career and a fulfilling life of
  purpose; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzalez earned his welding certification in
  1964 from Del Mar College, and he began working as a welder for
  Brown and Root in Brownsville; in 1967, he and his wife,
  Elizabeth, opened a fireworks business, and Ramiro balanced both
  his welding career and the family business until Brown and Root
  discontinued operations in Brownsville; and
         WHEREAS, After Mr. Gonzalez took an early retirement from an
  18-year career in welding, he and his wife began a new business
  venture in 1980 with the opening of Mr. G's Sno Wiz, and over the
  next decade, they expanded their Mr. G's Fireworks to include
  locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley; Ramiro began a third
  business enterprise in 1990, when he opened R&R Paving, Limited
  Liability Company, to help improve the streets of the Rio Grande
  Valley; and
         WHEREAS, Ramiro Gonzalez is a revered Valley citizen who
  has helped his community thrive through his conscientious
  business practices and his unwavering support of local
  charitable causes; this year marks the 50th anniversary of the
  opening of his first business, Mr. G's Fireworks, and he can
  indeed take pride in his many outstanding accomplishments over
  the years; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend Ramiro Ramirez Gonzalez for his many
  contributions to the Rio Grande Valley and congratulate him on 50
  years of entrepreneurial success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
