R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The loved ones of retired U.S. Marine Corps Master
  Sergeant Rodney Lee Buentello of San Antonio are mourning his
  untimely death on June 8, 2016, at the age of 42; and
         WHEREAS, Master Sergeant Buentello was spending an afternoon
  at the park with his family when he saw two teenagers being swept
  into the current of a nearby dam; in his final act of heroism, he
  jumped into the rushing waters, saving the lives of the young
  people, but ultimately sacrificing his own; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Raul and Yolanda Buentello, Rodney
  Buentello was born on June 27, 1973, and graduated from John Jay
  High School; he joined the marines, like his father before him, and
  went on to dedicate 20 years of exemplary service to his country,
  including three combat tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan; among
  numerous honors earned throughout his military career, the
  decorated veteran was awarded two Purple Hearts; and
         WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the marines,
  Mr. Buentello joined the staff at John Jay High, where he worked as
  an in-school-suspension instructional assistant and volunteered
  his time to coach football and track; and
         WHEREAS, Of all his achievements, Mr. Buentello was most
  proud of his role as father to three sons, Ryan, Roman, and Sage,
  and husband to his beloved wife, Lisa; and
         WHEREAS, Rodney Buentello demonstrated an unwavering
  devotion to the well-being of others right up until his final
  moments, and though his loved ones mourn his tragic loss, they can
  take comfort in their precious memories of his courage, generosity,
  and kindness; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of retired Master
  Sergeant Rodney Lee Buentello and extend deepest condolences to his
  family and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rodney
  Buentello.
