Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 7, 2015, and permission granted on May 7, 2015, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on Higher Education met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Zerwas, at 12:34 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Zerwas; Howard; Alonzo; Clardy; Crownover; Morrison; Raney; and Turner, Chris.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

SB 1735

 

The chair laid out SB 1735, the companion to HB 3572.

 

The chair offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Clardy moved that SB 1735, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Zerwas; Howard; Alonzo; Clardy; Crownover; Morrison; Raney (7).

 

Nays:                           Representative Turner, Chris (1).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                       Representative Martinez, "Mando" (1).

The chair laid out HB 3670 as pending business.

 

The chair offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Raney moved that HB 3670, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
