R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Doriana Torres has ably served the people of Texas |
|
|
as a Mexican American Legislative Leadership Foundation Fellow and |
|
|
legislative aide in the office of State Representative Mary |
|
|
González during the 84th Legislative Session; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 2003 by the Mexican American |
|
|
Legislative Caucus, the MALLF Fellowship program provides a unique |
|
|
opportunity for Latino college and university students to garner |
|
|
firsthand experience in the functions and operations of the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives; participants gain a deeper understanding |
|
|
of how state government works and become better equipped to serve |
|
|
the communities they represent; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Jennifer Torres and Bruce Edwards, |
|
|
Doriana Torres is a student at The University of Texas at El Paso, |
|
|
where she is working toward her master's degree in history; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Diligent and resourceful, Ms. Torres has skillfully |
|
|
handled a variety of duties in the office of State Representative |
|
|
González and ably assisted in meeting the needs of constituents, |
|
|
and she may reflect proudly on her service as a legislative aide; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Doriana Torres for her tireless |
|
|
dedication and exemplary work as a participant in the Mexican |
|
|
American Legislative Leadership Foundation Fellowship program and |
|
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Torres as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
