R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Senior Corporal Charlie Ramirez is retiring from the
  Texas Department of Public Safety on June 30, 2015, concluding an
  exemplary 40-year tenure with that agency; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of San Angelo Central High School,
  Mr. Ramirez earned his bachelor's degree from Angelo State
  University in 1972; he served as a teacher and coach in the Eden
  Independent School District and began his career in law enforcement
  as a reserve deputy for the Tom Green County Sheriff's Department;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Ramirez joined DPS in 1975, and he held a number
  of important positions over the next four decades, eventually
  achieving the rank of senior corporal; he has held assignments in
  San Angelo and El Paso, and for the last several years, he has been a
  valued member of the department's Corpus Christi office; and
         WHEREAS, Corporal Ramirez received his master peace
  officer's certification from the Texas Commission on Law
  Enforcement Officer Standards and Education, and he was named the
  winner of the 1996 Hale Achievement Award for his work in safety
  advocacy; moreover, he is a member of the Texas State Troopers
  Association and the Department of Public Safety Officers
  Association; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Ramirez enjoys the love
  and support of his wife, Sylvia, his daughters, Michelle and
  Melanie, and his three grandchildren, Alisa, Matthew, and Morgen;
  and
         WHEREAS, The dedication and professionalism that Charlie
  Ramirez has demonstrated have greatly benefited the people of Texas
  and earned him the lasting respect of his fellow officers, and he
  may indeed reflect with pride on his exceptional record of public
  service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Senior Corporal Charlie Ramirez on
  his retirement from the Texas Department of Public Safety and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Corporal Ramirez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
