Pursuant to a notice posted on May 6, 2014 and revised on May 6, 2014, the Joint Interim Committee to Study Human Trafficking met in a public hearing and was called to order by the co-chair, Representative Thompson, Senfronia, at 12:06 p.m.
The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Thompson, Senfronia; Fletcher; Hunter; Longoria; Parker; White; Workman; Senators Huffman; Birdwell; Campbell; Nelson; and Whitmire.
A quorum was present.
Representative S. Thompson, co-chair, recognized Peace Officers Memorial Day and asked for a moment of silence to honor all the local, state and federal peace officer who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Representative S. Thompson, co-chair, welcomed everyone and gave opening remarks.
Senator Huffman, co-chair, gave opening remarks.
Representative S. Thompson, co-chair, laid out the joint interim committee rules and explained.
Senator Nelson moved adoption of the rules.
There being no objection, the rules were adopted.
Representative S. Thompson, co-chair, announced that by signing the witnesses affirmation forms the witnesses agree to give their testimony under oath.
Study ways to Combat Human Trafficking and Identify Services Available to Victims

At the conclusion of invited testimony, Representative S. Thompson, co-chair, gave closing remarks and announced upcoming meetings.
Senator Huffman, co-chair, gave closing remarks.
At 2:08 p.m., on the motion of Representative Thompson, Senfronia and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
