R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, In 2012, Sport Clips achieved a significant
  milestone by opening its 1,000th store, making this a fitting
  opportunity to recognize the extraordinary success of this
  Texas-based company; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Georgetown,
  Sport Clips is a nationwide salon group specializing in hassle-free
  hair care for men and boys; it has grown to become one of the
  nation's fastest growing franchises, in part by following the
  philosophy of football coach Lou Holtz to "do your best, do what's
  right, and treat others the way they want to be treated"; and
         WHEREAS, The company is guided by Gordon Logan, a U.S. Air
  Force veteran who earned a degree from the Massachusetts Institute
  of Technology and a master's degree in business administration with
  honors from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School; prior
  to opening Sport Clips, he owned and operated hair salons
  throughout Texas, and he has served as president of the
  International SalonSpa Business Network; and
         WHEREAS, Today, this prosperous enterprise is ranked in the
  top 10 percent of the "Franchise 500" list compiled by Entrepreneur
  magazine and has been endorsed by athletes from NASCAR, the
  National Basketball Association, and Major League Baseball; Sport
  Clips has been designated the official haircutter of the Veterans
  of Foreign Wars, and since 2007 has supported the members of the
  armed services with nearly $2 million in donations to the Help a
  Hero program; veterans with an interest in owning a shop receive a
  significant discount on the franchise fee through the Veterans
  Transition Franchise Initiative; and
         WHEREAS, The well-being of the people of Texas depends on a
  vibrant, diversified economy, and independent businesses that
  contribute to and reflect the spirit of their communities are to be
  commended for the essential role they play in furthering the
  prosperity of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Sport Clips on opening its 1,000th
  franchise and extend to all those associated with the company
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Sport Clips as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
