R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, Actor Eduardo Yanez has been named Mr. Amigo 2012 in |
|
|
recognition of his accomplishments in promoting understanding |
|
|
between the citizens of the United States and Mexico; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1964, the Mr. Amigo Association each year |
|
|
honors an individual who has advanced international friendship in |
|
|
addition to excelling in his or her profession, serving as a |
|
|
positive role model, and advocating improvement of the quality of |
|
|
life in the Hispanic community; the award has been presented in |
|
|
conjunction with Brownsville's annual Charro Days Fiesta since |
|
|
1969, and in the course of its history it has paid tribute to a long |
|
|
list of important and influential figures; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A beloved television and movie actor, Eduardo Yanez |
|
|
was born in Mexico City; his first major role was in the television |
|
|
drama Quiereme Siempre, and he received wide acclaim for his |
|
|
performances in that and many subsequent series; in the 1990s, he |
|
|
began earning roles in Hollywood films, and he has appeared in such |
|
|
motion pictures as The Punisher, Man on Fire, and Striptease; |
|
|
today, he continues to act in numerous movies and television |
|
|
programs in the United States and Mexico; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With his talent and charisma, Eduardo Yanez has won |
|
|
fans on both sides of the border, making him a fitting |
|
|
representative of the cross-cultural friendship and collaboration |
|
|
promoted by the Mr. Amigo Association and the Charro Days Fiesta; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Eduardo Yanez on his selection as |
|
|
Mr. Amigo 2012 and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Yanez as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
