R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
  at the loss of U.S. Army Sergeant Enrique Mondragon, who died in
  Afghanistan on December 24, 2012, at the age of 23; and
         WHEREAS, Assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters
  Detachment, 173rd Special Troops Battalion, 173rd Airborne Combat
  Team based in Bamberg, Germany, Sergeant Mondragon was killed in
  Baraki Barak, Afghanistan, when his unit was attacked by small arms
  fire; he was a military police officer and had been serving in the
  army since 2009; and
         WHEREAS, "Rick" Mondragon was born and raised in Dallas, the
  son of Sergio and Barbara Martin-del Campo; he attended Hillcrest
  High School and then graduated from The Colony High School in 2007;
  he subsequently studied computer-aided design; and
         WHEREAS, While working in retail he met Katie Argueta, and
  the two were married in October 2009; they bought a house together
  in Little Elm and became the parents of a beloved daughter, Beverly;
  and
         WHEREAS, Known as a motivated man with big dreams, Sergeant
  Mondragon loved serving in the military and hoped to later work in
  the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency or in a related
  field; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
  women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military
  service, yet the tragic death of this brave young man is a sobering
  reminder of the cost of war; Sergeant Enrique Mondragon embodied
  the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and
  loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Sergeant
  Enrique Mondragon and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Katie Mondragon; to his daughter, Beverly
  Mondragon; to his parents, Sergio and Barbara Martin-del Campo; to
  his sister, Diphna Charo; to his brothers, Sergio Martin-del Campo,
  Jr., and Alexis Martin-del Campo; and to his other relatives and
  many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sergeant
  Enrique Mondragon.
