R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at |
|
the loss of Officer Robert Layden Hornsby of the Killeen Police |
|
Department, who was killed in the line of duty on July 14, 2013, at |
|
the age of 32; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Lexington, Kentucky, on January 17, 1981, |
|
Bobby Hornsby grew up in Plainview and Temple, where his family was |
|
involved in the restaurant business; he graduated from Temple High |
|
School, and he went on to attend Temple College; a caring husband |
|
and father, he shared a rewarding marriage with his wife, Kimberly, |
|
and they were the parents of two children, Braxx and Layden; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Hornsby joined the Killeen Police Department in |
|
January 2009 as a patrol officer on the B Squad of the early morning |
|
watch; he was assigned to the department's SWAT unit in January |
|
2013, and he earned his intermediate peace officer certification |
|
five months later; and |
|
WHEREAS, Police officers put themselves in harm's way every |
|
day to serve and protect their fellow citizens, and the tragic death |
|
of this brave officer is a sobering reminder of the dangers they |
|
face; Robert Hornsby embodied the highest ideals of the law |
|
enforcement profession, and he will long be fondly remembered and |
|
deeply missed by all those who were privileged to know him; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That tribute be paid to the life of Officer Robert |
|
Layden Hornsby and that sincere condolences be extended to the |
|
members of his family: to his wife, Kimberly Hornsby; to his son, |
|
Braxx Anderson Hornsby; to his daughter, Layden Morgan Hornsby; and |
|
to his other relatives and friends. |
