Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on International Relations & Trade was held on Thursday, May 17, 2012, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 10:04 AM. The following business was transacted:

The chair opened the floor for invited testimony on interim Charge #1:

1. Analyze ways to promote economic development along the border, using existing programs and resources. Make recommendations for development of programs in collaboration with local businesses, institutions of higher education, and community leaders to target training and jobs programs to growing industries.

Witnesses testifying and registering on interim Charge #1 are shown on the attached list.

The chair moved that invited testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

The chair opened the hearing to public testimony. Witnesses testifying and registering on interim Charge #1 and Charge #2 are shown on the attached list.

There being no further business, at 11:32 AM Senator Davis moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
