Pursuant to a notice posted on June 1, 2012, the House Committee on Energy Resources met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Keffer, at 9:13 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Keffer; Crownover; Carter; Davis, John; Howard, Charlie; Lozano; and Sheffield.

 

A quorum was present.

 

The Committee heard testimony on Interim Charge #1 - Review current state and federal laws and regulations and make recommendations to encourage additional energy production in Texas. Focus on the impact energy production has on our state's economy.

The Committee heard testimony on Interim Charge #2 - Examine state regulations governing oil and gas well construction and integrity and pipeline safety and construction and determine what changes should be made, if any, to ensure that the regulations are adequate to protect the people of Texas and its natural resources.

The Committee heard testimony on Interim Charge #3 - Study and make recommendations on the current process for the submission of well logs to the state by oil and gas operators. Specifically, identify changes that could be made in statute or agency administrative rules that would result in increased production through a more efficient system of collecting well logs.

At 5:53 p.m., on the motion of Representative Keffer and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
