SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 459
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
  tribute to the memory of the late Judge Eliseo B. "Cheo" Vega on
  the occasion of the dedication of the Port Isabel municipal court
  named in his honor; and
 
         WHEREAS, Judge Vega served the citizens of Port Isabel with
  honor and distinction for many years as a municipal court judge;
  he also held leadership positions in a variety of economic,
  educational, and public service organizations; and
 
         WHEREAS, For more than 30 years, Judge Vega served as a
  trustee of the Port Isabel Independent School District; in
  recognition of his exemplary service, the district named its
  junior high school complex in his honor in 1988, and in 2002, he
  was inducted into the district's Hall of Fame; and
 
         WHEREAS, Prior to his service as a judge, he had served as a
  senior vice president for Merchant Marine Bank and as a public
  relations liaison for the Linebarger law firm; in acknowledgment
  of his numerous contributions to the civic life of the area, he
  was inducted into the Rio Grande Valley Walk of Fame in 2005; and
 
         WHEREAS, Judge Vega was committed to the principle of equal
  justice under the law, and it is truly fitting that the City of
  Port Isabel should name a municipal court in his honor; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life and legacy of the
  late Judge Eliseo B. Vega and extend best wishes to his family and
  countless friends for a memorable dedication ceremony for the
  municipal court being named in his honor; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared to
  commemorate this occasion.
