SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 363
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Shirley Marie Tibbs on the grand occasion of her 75th
  birthday; and
         WHEREAS, This gracious lady is well known for her charm and
  generosity of spirit, and she is a revered resident of Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Shirley Marie Tibbs was born September 27, 1936,
  to Hannah Goodman and Frank Davis; she was married to the late
  James Ray Tibbs, and she raised nine children, Regina, Gerald,
  Michael, Paula, Sherrie, Harold, Karen, Frankie, and Glenn, who
  have blessed her with 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren,
  and three great-great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Tibbs is a member of New Mount Calvary
  Missionary Baptist Church, where she is a beloved member of the
  congregation; and
         WHEREAS, An admired and respected member of her community,
  she is noted for her courage, her compassion for others, and her
  enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; and
         WHEREAS, Friends and family are gathering on September 25,
  2011, at the Barbara Jordan Community Center in Houston to
  congratulate her and share in this milestone in her life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby recognize Shirley Marie Tibbs as a treasured
  citizen of Houston and our state and extend to her best wishes for
  a memorable 75th birthday celebration; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
