R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close when Valerie Evelyn Tumlinson of Athens passed away on June
  3, 2011, at the age of 77; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Phyllis and Reginald Dowsing, the
  former Val Dowsing was born in the English town of Ipswich, East
  Anglia, on August 1, 1933; she met Norman Obie Tumlinson while he
  was serving in the United States Air Force at
  Woodbridge-Bentwaters, and their marriage was made even richer with
  the addition of three sons, James, David, and Rick; in more recent
  years, she welcomed four treasured grandchildren into the family;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Tumlinson retired to Athens with her husband in
  1974 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen and a proud Texan;
  devoted to helping those in need, she served as Trinity Valley
  Community College activities director for the East Texas Nutrition
  Project, as founding director of Lakeland House Assisted Living,
  and as senior citizen director for the East Texas Council of
  Governments in Henderson, Anderson, and Van Zandt Counties; she
  also served on the boards of the Cain Center and Henderson County
  Committee on Aging, and she volunteered at the Henderson County
  Food Pantry for more than a dozen years; and
         WHEREAS, Val Tumlinson brought joy to innumerable people
  through her great kindness, her warmth, and her wonderful sense of
  humor; although she will be deeply missed by those she has left
  behind, they will forever treasure their memories of this generous
  and compassionate woman; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Valerie Evelyn Tumlinson and extend sincere condolences to the
  members of her family: to her husband, Norman Tumlinson; to her
  sons, James Tumlinson and his wife, Karen, David Tumlinson and his
  wife, Valerie, and Rick Tumlinson; to her grandchildren, Cameron,
  Kristin, Brian, and Kevin; to her sister, Penny Dinsdale; and to her
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Valerie
  Evelyn Tumlinson.
