The chair called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. The following business was transacted:
Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair.
The chair laid out as pending business, SB 1. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.
The roll was called, and a quorum was established.
The chair recognized Senator Averitt to lay out the workgroup recommendations regarding Criminal History Background Checks.
Senator Averitt moved to adopt the workgroup recommendations regarding Criminal History Background Checks. The motion carried with a record vote of 12 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 3 absent.
The chair recognized Senator Nelson to lay out the workgroup recommendations regarding riders for Article II and Article XI.
Senator Deuell moved to pend the rider on page 9, regarding the Department of State Health Services; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Nelson moved to adopt the amended workgroup recommendations regarding riders for Article II and Article XI, with the exception of pending items. The motion carried with a record vote of 15 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.
Senator Zaffirini moved that SB 1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Ogden resumed the chair.
There being no further business, at 9:03 a.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
