Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on
Transportation and Homeland Security was held on Tuesday, April
18, 2006, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin,
Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
Senator Brimer moved adoption of the Committee's interim rules;
without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Shapleigh moved adoption of the minutes from the
previous hearing held on April 18, 2006; without objection, it
was so ordered.
The committee heard opening remarks from several members from
the Texas Department of Transportation, witness list is
attached.
The Chairman laid out the Committee's interim charge number 5.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the charge are shown on
the attached list.
The Chairman laid out the Committee's interim charge number 1.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the charge are shown on
the attached list.
The Chairman laid out the Committee's interim charge number 6.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the charge are shown on
the attached list.
The Chairman laid out the Committee's interim charge number 4.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the charge are shown on
the attached list.
With no one else present and wishing to testify, the Chairman
moved that the public testimony on the committee's interim
charges 1, 4, 5 & 6 be closed; without objection, it was so
ordered.
There being no further business, at 3:58 p.m. Senator Carona
moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of
the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
