Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Criminal
Justice was held on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, in the Capitol
Extension Auditorium at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 3:40 p.m. The
following business was transacted:
The Chair brought up SB 1266, which was left pending from a
previous hearing. Senator Whitmire laid out 7 amendments to the
bill, but did not move adoption.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on
the attached list. The chair moved that the public testimony be
closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Whitmire moved that SB 1266 be left pending; without
objection, it was so ordered.
The chair laid out SB 1632 and recognized the author, Senator
Hinojosa, to explain the bill. Senator Hinojosa laid out a
committee substitute to SB 1632, but did not move adoption.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on
the attached list. The chair moved that the public testimony be
closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Whitmire moved that SB 1632 be left pending; without
objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Seliger assumed the chair.
The chair laid out SB 1600 and recognized Senator Armbrister, in
the absence of the author, to explain the bill. Senator Seliger
sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator
Seliger to explain the difference between the committee
substitute and the bill as filed. Senator Seliger moved
adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was
so ordered.

The chair laid out SB 1874 and recognized Senator Armbrister, in
the absence of the author, to explain the bill.
