Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Criminal
Justice was held on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, in the Capitol
Extension Auditorium at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 1:40 p.m. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
Senator Carona moved to reconsider the vote by which Senate Bill
544 failed to be reported favorably to the full Senate (from
previous legislative day). The motion carried with a record
vote of 4 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 3 absent.
Senator Carona then moved that SB 544 be reported favorably to
the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be
printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 0
nay, 0 present not voting, and 3 absent.
The Chair then moved to hear invited testimony concerning
community supervision reforms. The Chair called panel 1:

supervision reform and probation.
There being no further business, at 5:00 p.m. Senator Whitmire
moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of
the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
