         Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, moved by Senator  
         Lindsay, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Nominations  
         was held on Tuesday, May 17, 2005, in the Senate Chamber at  
         Chairman Lindsay's desk.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 2:12 p.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator  
         Eddie Lucio, Jr. 
          
         Senator Nelson moved that a vote be taken on the nominees to the  
         Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. At 2:13 p.m.,  
         the committee voted by 4 ayes, 0 nays and 3 absent to recommend  
         C. Kent Conine and Patrick R. Gordon to the full Senate for  
         confirmation. 
          
         Chairman Lindsay asked for a motion on all the non-appearing  
         nominees with the exception of Rex Baker, nominee to the State  
         Commission on Judicial Conduct, who would be left pending. At  
         2:14 p.m., by a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays and 2 absent, the  
         committee voted to recommend to the full Senate for confirmation  
         all the nominees from the following entities: Correctional  
         Managed Health Care Committee, Texas Guaranteed Student Loan  
         Corporation, Texas Historical Commission, State Commission on  
         Judicial Conduct (except Rex Baker), Texas Juvenile Probation  
         Commission, Texas Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle  
         Board, State Preservation Board, Private Sector Prison Industry  
         Oversight Authority, Product Development and Small Business  
         Incubator Board, State Committee of Examiners in the Fitting and  
         Dispensing of Hearing Instruments, State Board of Marriage and  
         Family Therapists, TDCJ Advisory Committee on Offenders with  
  
         Medical or Mental Impairments, Task Force on Indigent Defense,  
         Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, Texas Southern  
         University Board of Regents and Texas State Board of Veterinary  
         Examiners. 
          
         Chairman Lindsay announced that a vote would be taken on the  
         nominees to the Texas Residential Construction Commission at a  
         later time and that Rex Baker appear at the May 23, 2005 Senate  
         Nominations committee hearing. 
          
         There being no further business, at 2:14 p.m. Senator Lindsay  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
