         Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, moved by Senator  
         Lindsay, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Nominations  
         was held on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in the Senate Chamber-  
         Chairman Lindsay's desk

         The chair called the meeting to order at 12:50 p.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
         Chairman Lindsay asked for a motion to vote on two of the  
         nominees to the State Board of Barber Examiners, Mary Lou  
         Daughtrey and James Dickerson, and asked that the third, Terissa  
         Johnson, be left pending by the committee. Senator Eltife so  
         moved and at 12:45 p.m. by a vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present  
         not voting and 3 absent, Daughtrey and Dickerson were  
         recommended to the full Senate for confirmation. Chairman  
         Lindsay asked for a vote on the non-appearing nominees. At 12:46  
         p.m., by a vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting and 3  
         absent, nominees from the following entities were recommended to  
         the full Senate for confirmation: Family and Protective Services  
         Council, Gulf State Marine Fisheries Commission, Justice of the  
         Fourth Appellate District, Place 3, Midwestern State University  
         Board of Regents, Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners,  
         Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents, Texas State  
         Technical College System Board of Regents, Texas State  
         University System Board of Regents, Texas Woman's University  
         Board of Regents, University of Houston System Board of Regents  
         and University of North Texas Board of Regents. 
          
         There being no further business, at 12:47 p.m. Senator Lindsay  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
