Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on International
Relations & Trade was held on Thursday, April 7, 2005, in the At

The chair called the meeting to order at 1:03 p.m. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
At 1:04 p.m. Senator Shapleigh assumed the chair.
The chair laid out SB 1500 and recognized the author, Senator
Lucio, Jr., to explain the bill. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that
SB 1500 be reported favorably to the Senate with the
recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion
carried with a record vote of 7 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not
voting, and 0 absent. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that the bill be
recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar;
without objection, it was so ordered.
The chair laid out SB 1202 and recognized the author, Senator
Lucio, Jr., to explain the bill. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that
SB 1202 be reported favorably to the Senate with the
recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion
carried with a record vote of 7 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not
voting, and 0 absent. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that the bill be
recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar;
without objection, it was so ordered.
At 1:06 p.m. Senator Lucio, Jr. resumed the chair.
The chair laid out SB 827 and recognized the author, Senator
Zaffirini, to explain the bill. Senator Zaffirini sent up a
committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Zaffirini to
explain the difference between the committee substitute and the
bill as filed. Senator Zaffirini moved adoption of the
committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Zaffirini moved that SB 827 do not pass but that CSSB
827 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that
it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record
vote of 7 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.
Senator Zaffirini moved that the bill be recommended for
placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without
objection, it was so ordered.
There was no action taken for the following bill(s):
SB 1737
There being no further business, at 1:09 p.m. Senator Carona
moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of
the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
