         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was  
         held on Wednesday, February 9, 2005, in the Capitol Extension,  
         Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 8:01 a.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         The chair laid out SB 1, the General Appropriations Bill, which  
         had been left pending at a previous hearing. 
          
         Testimony was given on the following agencies with witnesses on  
         the attached list: 
          
         Department of State Health Services 
          
         At 8:29 a.m. Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair.   
          
         At 8:32 a.m. Senator Ogden resumed the chair.   
          
         At 9:37 a.m. Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair.   
          
         At 9:41 a.m. Senator Ogden resumed the chair.   
          
         At 10:59 a.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand  
         recessed until 45 minutes after adjournment of the Senate;  
         without objection, it was so ordered. 
          
         The Committee reconvened at 12:40 p.m. 
          
         Testimony resumed on the following agencies with witnesses on  
         the attached list: 
          
         Department of State Health Services 
          
         At 1:05 p.m. Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair.   
          
         Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services 
          
         At 1:10 p.m. Senator Ogden resumed the chair.   
          
         At 1:46 p.m. Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair.   
          
         Department of Family and Protective Services 
          
         Senator Zaffirini moved that SB 1 be left pending; without  
         objection, it was so ordered. 
          
         There being no further business, at 4:21 p.m. Senator Zaffirini  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed until 8 a.m. the  
         following morning, February 10, 2005.  Without objection, it was  
         so ordered.
