Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on
Administration was held on Thursday, April 21, 2005, in the
Capitol Extension, Room E1.714, at Austin, Texas.

Senator Juan Hinojosa, the acting chair, called the meeting to
order at 4:03 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following
business was transacted:
The chair laid out SB 1009 and recognized Senator Van de Putte,
in the absence of the author, to explain the bill. Senator Janek
sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Van
de Putte to explain the difference between the committee
substitute and the bill as filed. Senator Janek moved adoption
of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so
ordered. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are
shown on the attached list. The chair moved that the public
testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Van de Putte moved that SB 1009 do not pass but that
CSSB 1009 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a
record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 2
absent. Senator Van de Putte moved that the bill be recommended
and certified for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar;
without objection, it was so ordered.

that the bill be recommended and certified for placement on the
Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so
ordered.
The chair then took up the list of bills recommended for
placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar. SB 30, SB 1189,
SB 1321, and SB 1525 were removed from the list. Senator
Wentworth moved that the list of bills recommended for placement
on the Local and Uncontested Calendar, with the exception of the
above removed bills, be certified. The motion carried with a
record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 2
absent.
At 4:36 p.m. Senator Hinojosa moved that the committee stand
recessed; without objection, it was so ordered.
