Pursuant to a notice posted on July 14, 2005 and revised on July
18, 2005 at 9:12 am and a final revision issued on July 18, 2005
at 3:17 pm, the House Committee on General Investigating &
Ethics met in a public hearing and was called to order by the
chair, Representative Bailey, at 12:20 p.m.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Bailey; Paxton; Dutton; Flynn; Keel
(5).
Absent: None (0).
A quorum was present.
The Chairman proceed to outline the issues listed in the
Committee's posting and opened discussion on all items.
Rep. Keel made the following recommendations;
Item 2 be referred to the House Committee on Urban Affairs
or not.
Item 6 be referred to the House Committee on Financial
Institutions.
Item 7 be referred to the House Committee on Business and
Industry.
Item 3 - Coordinate a Joint interim study with the House
Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence.
All other agenda items were discussed and accepted.
Chairman Bailey laid out one additional item concerning the
Driver Responsibility Act and
advised that staff would obtain pertinent information for a
decision by the members.
The decision was made to make agenda item #3 our first priority
and we will coordinate with
the Criminal Jurisprudence Committee to hold a hearing.
At 12:56 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
