         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 6, 2006, the House  
         Committee on Business & Industry met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the chair, Representative Giddings, at 10:44  
         a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:   Representatives Giddings; Elkins; Taylor; Vo; Zedler  
                    (5). 
          
         Absent:    Representatives Bailey; Bohac; Martinez; Solomons  
                    (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The Public Hearing was scheduled for the purpose of receiving  
         invited testimony updating the Committee on the status of  
         workers' compensation reforms and the transition from the former  
         Workers' Compensation Commission to the Texas Department of  
         Insurance, Division of Workers' Compensation. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 12:41 p.m., on motion of the Chair and without objection, the  
         meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the Chair.
