H.B. No. 2900

relating to the eligibility of certain persons for burial in the state cemetery. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 2165.256(f), Government Code, is amended to read as follows: (f) Grave spaces are allotted for: (1) a person who is eligible or who clearly will be eligible for burial under Subsection (d); (2) the person's spouse; and (3) the person's unmarried child of any age, if the child, on September 1, 1979, or at the time of the child's death, because of a long-standing physical or mental condition that was manifest during the lifetime of one of the child's parents, is dependent on another for care or support [is a resident in a state-operated or state-licensed eleemosynary institution]. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.
