The House Committee on County Affairs will hold its first interim committee
hearing Tuesday, May 11, 2004, in the Capitol Extension, E2.010.  This will
be a formal hearing to discuss the following interim charges:

1.  Study ways to increase efficiency and provide for greater local
control through restructuring county government.

2.  Consider the increased costs associated with Court Administration and
Security as it relates to the implementation of the Fair Defense Act and
heightened security requirements.

4.  Determine whether county fees/fines are at appropriate levels and have
maintained their proper function and application.

Written information is welcome the day of the hearing, however, the
committee staff respectfully requests that, if possible, the information be
delivered to the Chairman's office in E2.414 by Friday, May 7, 2004, so
that the membership may review it before the hearing.
