Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health &
Human Services was held on Tuesday, October 19, 2004, in the
Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:10 p.m. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
Senator Janek moved adoption of the minutes from the hearing
held on June 8; without objection, it was so ordered.
The Chair opened the floor to invited testimony relating to the
Committee's review of Child Protective Services (CPS).
Witnesses testifying and registering are shown on the attached
list.
The Chair closed testimony.
Senator Zaffirini provided the Committee with an update on the
work of the Senate Finance Subcommittee on State Contracting.
The Chair opened the floor to invited testimony regarding Charge
#1 relating to Medicaid and CHIP reform. Witnesses testifying
and registering are shown on the attached list.
The Chair opened the floor to invited testimony regarding Charge
#1 relating to the behavioral health organization model.
Witnesses testifying and registering are shown on the attached
list.
The Chair opened the floor to public testimony regarding Charge
#1 relating to Medicaid and CHIP reform and the behavioral
health organization model. Witnesses testifying and registering
are shown on the attached list.
The Chair closed public testimony.
There being no further business, at 6:20 p.m. the Chair ordered
that the Committee stand in recess subject to the call of the
Chair.
