         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health &  
         Human Services was held on Tuesday, May 25, 2004, in the Senate  
         Chamber at Austin, Texas.

         The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m.  The  
         following business was transacted:   
          
         The Chair opened the floor to invited testimony relating to the  
         Committee's charge regarding county and local indigent health  
         care.  Witnesses testifying and registering are shown on the  
         attached list.  
          
         A quorum was established at 1:20 p.m. 
          
         Senator Janek moved adoption of the minutes from the hearing  
         held on April 28, 2004; without objection, it was so ordered. 
          
         The Chair opened the floor to public testimony relating to the  
         Committee's charge regarding county and local indigent health  
         care.  Witnesses testifying and registering are shown on the  
         attached list.  
          
         There being no further business, at 2:40 p.m. the Chair  
         announced that the Committee would stand in recess subject to  
         the call of the Chair.
