                   Pursuant to a notice posted on April 25, 2003, the  
                   Senate Subcommittee on Agriculture met in a joint  
                   public hearing with the House Committee on Agriculture  
                   & Livestock and was called to order by the chair,  
                   Senator Duncan, at 8:20 a.m.  
                    
                  The roll was answered as follows:  
                    
                  Present:  Senators Duncan, Lucio, Estes (3).  
                    
                  Absent:   None.  
                    
                  A quorum was present.  
                    
                  The committee members heard a presentation from invited  
         guest   
                  Bill Hawks, Undersecretary of Marketing and Regulatory  
         Programs,   
                  of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  
                    
                  At 9:25 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without  
         objection,   
                  the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the  
         chair.
