         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was  
         held on Tuesday, May 25, 2004, in the Capitol Extension, Room  
         E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 8:06 a.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:          
          
         The Committee heard invited testimony on the Committee's interim  
         charge relating to a comprehensive data review of Health and  
         Human Services programs.  Witnesses testifying and registering  
         on the interim charge are shown on the attached list.   
          
         Senator Zaffirini moved adoption of the minutes from the  
         previous hearings held on April 12, 2004 and April 13, 2004.   
         Senator Nelson seconded the motion; without objection, it was so  
         ordered. 
          
         At 11:19 a.m. Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair.   
         At 11:47 a.m. Senator Ogden resumed the chair.   
          
         There being no further business, at 1:09 p.m. Senator Ogden  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
