         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 12, 2003, the House  
         Committee on Financial Institutions met in a public hearing and  
         was called to order by the chair, Representative Solomons, at  
         10:32 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Solomons; Christian; Gutierrez; Flynn;  
                   Hopson; Paxton (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Wise (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The chair introduced committee staff and recognized committee  
         members to make introductory remarks.  The chair outlined his  
         plans for the committee. 
          
         Testimony was taken from invited representatives of agencies  
         under the committee's jurisdiction.  (See attached witness  
         list.)

         At 12:17 p.m., on the motion of Representative Christian and  
         without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call  
         of the chair.
