Pursuant to a notice posted on February 28, 2003, the House
Committee on Economic Development met in a public hearing and
was called to order by the chair, Representative Keffer, Jim, at
8:11 a.m.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Keffer, Jim; Homer; Isett; Hughes;
Rodriguez; Wong (6).
Absent: Representative Thompson (1).
A quorum was present.
The committee heard invited testimony from the Workforce
Commission on the Unemployment Insurance System.

At 9:51 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was recessed until 1:00 p.m., March 5, 2003.
The committee reconvened at 1:21 p.m. and was called to order by
the chair, Representative Keffer, Jim. The roll was answered as
follows:
Present: Representatives Keffer, Jim; Hughes; Rodriguez; Wong
(4).
Absent: Representatives Homer; Isett; Thompson (3).
A quorum was present.

The committee heard testimony from Dr. Ray Perryman on economic
development issues in Texas (see attached witness list.)

At 2:44 p.m., on the motion of Representative Homer and without
objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the
