         Pursuant to a suspension of the rule that prohibits committees  
         from meeting while the House is in session, and an announcement  
         from the house floor on May 24, 2003, the House Committee on  
         Corrections met in a formal meeting and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Allen, at 3:51 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Allen; Hopson; Alonzo; Mabry (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Stick; Farrar; Haggerty (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 97 
          
         The chair laid out SB 97, the companion to HB 477. 
          
         Representative Alonzo moved that SB 97, without amendments, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:  
          
         Ayes:               Representatives Allen; Hopson; Alonzo; Mabry  
                             (4).  
           
         Nays:               None (0).  
           
         Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).  
           
         Absent:        Representatives Stick; Farrar; Haggerty  (3).  
           
         At 3:58 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
