Pursuant to a notice posted on April 25, 2003, and upon an
announcement and motion made in a public hearing on May 4, 2003,
the House Committee on Redistricting reconvened in a public
hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative
Crabb, at 8:20 a.m.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Crabb; King; Krusee; McClendon;
Morrison; Pitts; Raymond; Talton (8).
Absent: Representatives Villarreal; Flores; Grusendorf; Isett;
Luna; Marchant; Wilson (7).
A quorum was present.
Representative Raymond submitted documents to the clerk.
HB 3398
The chair laid out HB 3398 as pending business.
Representative Crabb offered a complete committee substitute.
The committee substitute by Crabb was withdrawn without
objection.
Testimony was taken. (See attached witness list.)
(Representative Marchant now present.)
Representative King offered a complete committee substitute and
explained the measure.
(Representative Isett now present.)
Representative King moved that the substitute by King be
adopted. There was objection. The motion was withdrawn.
(Representative Grusendorf now present.)
The committee substitute by King was adopted by the following
record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Crabb; Grusendorf; Isett;
King; Krusee; Marchant; Morrison; Pitts;
Talton (9).
Nays: Representatives McClendon; Raymond (2).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representatives Villarreal; Flores; Luna; Wilson
(4).
The committee stood at ease.
Representative King moved to reconsider the vote by which the
substitute was adopted. The motion to reconsider prevailed
without objection.
The committee substitute by King was withdrawn without
objection.
The bill was left pending without objection.
At 9:58 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was recessed until 9:00 a.m., May 6, 2003.
