         Pursuant to a notice posted on August 8, 2003, the House  
         Committee on Business & Industry met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the chair, Representative Giddings, at 10:43  
         a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Giddings; Elkins; Kolkhorst; Solomons;  
                   Zedler (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Bohac; Martinez Fischer; Moreno, Joe  
                   E.; Oliveira (4). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         The chair laid out HB 36. 
          
         The chair recognized Representative Madden to explain the  
         measure.  
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 10:59 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 30 minutes following adjournment  
         of the House on August 13, 2003. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 1:10 p.m. and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Giddings. The roll was answered as  
         follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Giddings; Elkins; Kolkhorst; Bohac;  
                   Zedler (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Martinez Fischer; Moreno, Joe E.;  
                   Oliveira; Solomons (4). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         The chair recognized Representative Madden to close on the  
         measure.  
          
         At 2:11 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
