         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 25, 2003, the House  
         Committee on Agriculture & Livestock met in a joint public  
         hearing with the Senate Subcommittee on Agriculture and  
         Livestock and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Hardcastle, at 8:20 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hardcastle; Brown, Betty; Burnam;  
                   Swinford (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Miller; Jones, Delwin; Laney (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The committee members heard a presentation from invited guest  
         Bill Hawks, Undersecretary of Marketing and Regulatory Programs,  
         of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. 
          
         At 9:25 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
