Amend Floor Amendment No. 1 by Wolens to CSHB 1606 by adding
the following appropriately numbered SECTION to ARTICLE 2 of the
bill and renumbering subsequent SECTIONS of ARTICLE 2 accordingly:
SECTION 2._____. Chapter 255, Election Code, is amended by
adding Section 255.009 to read as follows:
Sec. 255.009. DISCLOSURE BY CERTAIN ORGANIZATIONS. (a) In
this section, "political advocacy" includes making political
contributions and expenditures, spending funds for political
advertising, political research, or affecting issues of public
interest, and supporting or opposing a candidate or a measure.
(b) A person who has been a member in good standing for at
least 24 months of an organization that has more than 400 members
and that engages in political advocacy is entitled, on written
request, to a list of the persons who contributed funds expended for
the advocacy. The organization must comply with this subsection
not later than the third day after the date on which the
organization receives the request.
