The Business and Commerce Committee will meet to examine the use and
fairness of credit scoring in writing and rating homeowners and auto
insurance. The committee will also explore the problems associated with
the mold crisis in Texas, including: the increasing number of mold-
related claims and the subsequent and dramatic increase in homeowners
rates; claims handling procedures; the potential for licensing and
regulating mold remediators and public adjusters; standards for
permissible mold exposure limits; standards for identifying, assessing
and remediating mold in indoor environments; and stigmatization of
property because of prior water damage claims.
