         Pursuant to a notice posted on June 12, 2002, the House  
         Committee on Public Education, Subcommittee on Teacher Shortage  
         Issues, met jointly with the House Committee on Appropriations  
         in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Hochberg, at 9:08 a.m. 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hochberg; Grusendorf (2). 
                              
         Absent:   Representative Smith (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         (Representative Smith now present.) 
          
         At 10:50 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed subject to the call of the chair. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 11:01 a.m. and was called to order  
         by the chair.

         At 1:48 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,
