         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on April 17,  
         2001, the House Committee on Judicial Affairs met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Thompson, at 5:43 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Thompson; Hartnett; Deshotel; Garcia;  
                   Solis, Jim; Uresti (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Capelo; Hinojosa; Talton (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 1223 
          
         The chair laid out SB 1223, the companion document to HB 3179  
         which has been placed on the General State Calendar for  
         4/18/2001. 
          
         Representative Solis, Jim moved that SB 1223, without  
         amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the  
         recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion  
         prevailed by the following record vote:  
          
         Ayes:               Representatives Thompson; Hartnett;  
                             Deshotel; Garcia; Solis, Jim; Uresti (6).  
         Nays:               None (0).  
         Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).  
         Absent:        Representatives Capelo; Hinojosa; Talton  (3).  
           
         At 5:44 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
