         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 21, 2002, and revised March  
         22,2002, the House Committee on Higher Education met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Rangel, at 11:10 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Rangel; Brown, Fred; Farabee; Goolsby;  
                   Jones, Jesse; Morrison; Reyna, Elvira; Uher (8). 
          
         Absent:   Representative West, George "Buddy" (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken on Interim Charge One:  Review problems  
         confronting students regarding the transfer of course credit  
         between institutions of higher education.  Evaluate current  
         transfer policies of all higher education institutions and  
         identify  ways to simplify transfer between and among  
         institutions. (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 2:10 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
