The House Committee on Corrections 77th Legislature February 20, 2001 2:00 p.m. or upon final adjourn./recess Capitol Extension, E2.026 Pursuant to a notice posted on February 14, 2001, the House Committee on Corrections met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Haggerty, at 2:02 p.m. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives Haggerty; Ellis, Dan; Gray; Hodge; Hopson (5). Absent: Representatives Farrar; Allen; Isett; Ritter (4). A quorum was present. The Committee heard testimony from Mrs. Jayne Hawkins and Mrs. Lori Hawkins, the mother and wife of slain police officer, Aubrey Hawkins. (Representatives Farrar, Isett, Ritter now present.) The Committee also heard testimony from Dr. Fabelo who provided an overview of the adult and juvenile justice systems. (Representative Allen now present.) The Committee then received introductory testimony from representatives of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Board of Pardons and Paroles, Texas Council on Offenders with Mental Impairments, and Texas Youth Commission.
