         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Tobacco, met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Janek, at 8:44 a.m.

                   Gutierrez; Heflin; Maxey; Puente (8). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Delisi; Farrar; Giddings (3). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         At 9:55 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 11:30 a.m., March 19, 2001. 
          
         Pursuant to a suspension of Rule 4 Sec. 9, the committee  
         reconvened at 11:41 a.m. and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Janek. The roll was answered as follows:
