         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 25, 2002, the House  
         Committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on Education, met in a  
         public hearing and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Hochberg, at 10:15 a.m. 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hochberg; Delisi; Gutierrez (3). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Mowery; Representative Giddings (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Also present:  Representative West 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         (Speaker Laney now present.)(Representative Giddings now  
         present.) 
          
         At 11:57 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 12:30 p.m., April 2, 2002. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 12:42 p.m. and was called to order  
         by the chair, Representative Hochberg. The roll was answered as  
         follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hochberg; Delisi; Giddings; Gutierrez  
                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Mowery (1). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         At 4:30 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
