         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 9, 2001, the House  
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Education, met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Hochberg, at 8:20 a.m. 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hochberg; Giddings; Gutierrez; Mowery  
                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Delisi (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 9:46 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until adjournment of the Joint Hearing  
         with the Criminal Justice Subcommittee, February 15, 2001. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 3:15 p.m. and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Hochberg. The roll was answered as  
         follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hochberg; Delisi; Giddings; Gutierrez;  
                   Mowery (5). 
          
         Absent:   None (0). 
          
         A quorum was present.
